Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja 2013

As much as Janamashtami is a great festival, however, many ISKCON devotees feel that Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja celebrated the next day increases the feeling of joy even more. The devotees work hard managing the public on Janamashtami day, but on Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa Puja day the devotees are focusing on Srila Prabhupada and what His Divine Grace has given to the devotees who follow his instructions found in his books.

This year, attending Vyasa Puja was a senior ISKCON devotee Gaur Hari Das, who revealed that he was present in the room when Srila Prabhupada left this world in 1977. He disclosed that as he was pleased with the Coventry Temple's mood and hospitality, he had brought with him the flower which was lying on the holy body of Srila Prabhupada when he entered eternal samadhi. The attendees felt ecstasy hearing their good fortune and accepted the prashaad flower on thier heads.

On that special occassion, the surrendered devotees decorated Srila Prabhupada's Vyasa asana into a swan carriage which looked gorgeous. It was like a param hamsa was seated on a hamsa.   Loving offerings were read and spoken by various devotees to our beloved Srila Prabhupada after the Guru Puja ceremony. A new video song entitled, "You never went away" was shown to the delight of everyone. Finally, pushpanjali was offered by all the devotees and feast honoured. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
